CodeGPT is an extension for Visual Studio Code (VSCode) that allows you to use the official OpenAI API to generate code or natural language answers to your questions from GPT3 or ChatGPT right in the editor.
Here are some features of CodeGPT:
You can ask general questions or use code snippets from the editor to query GPT3 through the input field in the sidebar.
Right-clicking on the selected code opens a context menu with commands such as “Query CodeGPT”, “Explain selected code”, “Refactor or optimize code”, “Find problems in code”, etc.
You can paste code snippets from an AI response into the active editor by simply clicking on them.

To use the extension, open a text editor in Visual Studio Code and open the CodeGPT panel by clicking the CodeGPT icon in the sidebar. This will open a panel with an input field where you can enter your hint or question. Pressing enter will send it to GPT3. His answer will appear below the input field in the sidebar.
CodeGPT is also capable of generating code review messages for your staged changes, or translating all code review messages into another language, such as Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, or Japanese.
Installing CodeGPT in VSCode is simple: open VSCode, go to extensions, find “Code GPT” and click “Install”. Once Code GPT is installed, go to Settings and then Code GPT. Enter your OpenAI API key in the appropriate field.
CodeGPT can be integrated not only into VSCode, but also into other development environments such as JetBrains IDEs, thanks to an extension that allows you to use ChatGPT inside your favorite development environment.
